Joelle Elfassy
Born and raised in Toronto, Joelle had discovered her love for photography at a very young age. Having won multiple local awards for her photography, her hobby quickly expanded into a part-time business where she began working in the entertainment industry with emerging artists and various production companies across the city. 15 years later, Joelle is now an avid travel and portrait photographer.
Spending most of her time discovering new and remote places around the world, Joelle attempts to take viewers on her journey through the stories she tells with her lens.
Doreen Lurie
Doreen was born in Durban, South Africa. She started painting under the guidance of well know South African artists and exhibited in South Africa. In 1987, Doreen moved to Canada and, in addition to painting, started working for the Pay Equity Commission under the Ministry of Labour where she worked to remove discrimination of workers in female jobs. Doreen’s dedication to her work won her a 2011 GEM Award for Professionalism.
Doreen is involved in various volunteer activities. This includes missions to Israel each summer to pack army supplies and other support tasks for the SAREL organization.
Doreen paints mainly in acrylics, mixed media but also in oil. She has been part of the North York Visual Art Group for 10 years, exhibiting her work in many art shows in Toronto. She is inspired to paint abstracted figures with an African or Eastern European feel.
