Gadi Eisenstein

Professor Gadi Eisenstein holds the Mark and Diane Seiden Chair in Optoelectronics at the Viterbi Faculty of Computer and Electrical Engineering. He has been director of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute (RBNI) since 2013.
An expert in photonics, optoelectronics, and quantum electronics, Professor Gadi Eisenstein holds the Mark and Diane Seiden Chair in Optoelectronics at the Andrew and Erna Viterbi Faculty of Computer and Electrical Engineering. He has been director of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute (RBNI) since 2013.

Prof. Eisenstein joined the Technion in 1989 and launched Israel’s first significant research laboratory in fiber optics and related technologies. In 2014, he was recognized with the prestigious IEEE Photonics Society William Streifer Scientific Award, for his contributions to the fields of lasers and electro-optics.

As director of the RBNI, Prof. Eisenstein advocates for research in quantum technology, the next frontier in science, with applications in computing, communication, energy, the environment, and medicine. The revolutionary sensing and imaging devices, implantable biomedical devices, energy-saving solutions, and other technologies made possible by quantum will play a critical role in Israel’s national economy and security.
