A Partnership with Chagall Kosher Restaurant at the Windsor Arms Hotel for Student Mental Health

Good Food for a Good Cause.

This Channukah season, Technion Canada is partnering with Chagall Kosher Restaurant at the Windsor Arms Hotel. From November 8th to December 31st, 5% of all the proceeds from Chagall will support student mental health at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

Healthcare Innovation Starts with Healthy Students

Technion students are developing healthcare innovations that help patients in Israel, Canada, and around the world. However, the ongoing conflict has disrupted many of their lives, where many students struggle to keep up with their research while taking care of their health. A student who is well can keep developing the treatments and technologies patients are waiting for. Technologies that strengthen Israel and transform the future of healthcare for the benefit of us all.

What Your Donation Supports

Therapy with clinical psychologists

At the Phillip and Francis Fried Counseling Centre, donor funds cover individual short- and long-term therapy. Students who have struggled since returning to their studies can receive crisis support packages of 10 to 12 private sessions.

Round-the-clock emergency hotlines

Direct funding supports mental health hotlines that are staffed day and night for immediate crisis support.

The Technion Resilience Centre

Established in 2024 with philanthropic support from the Rothschild Foundation, in collaboration with the Israel Trauma Coalition. The centre brings together mental health, emotional wellness, and community resilience programs for everyday campus life and for times of crisis.

Specialized training for counselors

Donor funding helped 26 counselors receive specialized training in trauma support, so more staff are ready to help students who have struggled since returning to their studies.

Tuition and housing relief

Donated funds provide dorm rent stipends, tuition waivers for students who had to pause their studies, and emergency financial grants. Students can focus on recovery without worrying about basic living costs.

One-on-one academic tutoring

Philanthropy covers thousands of hours of private tutoring, so returning students keep pace with their coursework and academic anxiety stays manageable.

“On behalf of Technion Canada, I want to thank George Friedmann and the Chagall Restaurant at the Windsor Arms Hotel for this partnership. Their support for student mental health at the Technion reflects a shared commitment to the students whose work in science and innovation improves lives around the world. We are honoured to stand alongside them in this mission, and I encourage everyone to visit Chagall for a terrific kosher meal that does some good.”
