Multigenerational Reunion of Technion Canada Group Meets with Technion President Uri Sivan

2022-11-14

On November 14th, 22 individuals were on hand for a special reunion at the home of Tobie and Ted Bekhor.  Tobie’s parents, Florence and Sydney Cooperz”l , were one of approximately twenty prominent Jewish families in the late 1980s which donated $50,000+ each to build the Toronto Technion High Tech (TTT) Fund to support priority projects at the Technion.  Seven founding families and three generations were represented.

Gary Goldberg (second generation TTT, Technion Governor and TTT Chair) explained that it was recommended by the university that the balance of the Fund go towards supporting the operating and travel expenses of a new advisory committee. This group will consist of individuals knowledgeable in technology markets and/or technology commercialization who will have unique opportunities to advise our leading scientists who work on large interdisciplinary research programs.  At the event, the families approved the use of the funds to be directed towards the committee.

Prof. Uri Sivan spoke about the strategic plans for the Technion and the upcoming events to celebrate the Technion’s Centennial starting in May 2024.
